Route Development

Following the feedback from the previous meeting we decided to all go away and work on developing the safe route, making it more friendly, experimental, throwing different 'wacky' ideas into it.

Something I noticed in the safe option (route one) is that the design on the cover isn't taken through the book, that being the large 3 on the edge. So I took the appropriate headers and titles for each dps and did the same thing... It's ok but I wouldn't push the idea much.

Quick idea that didn't really go to plan. Just for a bit of a 'graphic design' feel adding colour swatches to each page, showing the 3 colour scheme, doesn't really work, looks a bit naff. Too big? Smaller and use cmyk process colours instead perhaps?

Photograph cover, lights outside our studio symbolising the concept of '3'. I really like the concept and style of it and it fits in terms of following the style of it through the rest of the book. That being monotone / duotone photos (Visiting pros / studios etc)

Contents page...
Making it less minimal, bit more bold and in your face.
Still with the separation of the different contents, students, visiting pro etc

Quotes page...
Again trying the more bold approach. Changing all the e's to 3's. Quite an 'out there' idea.
Also trying different things instead of standard speech marks...

Little idea I had of  including something original / personal or unique, drawing arrows to corresponding things. So here, name of person talking, arrow to quotation.
This then carrying through to the student pages, where maybe the name of the student is circled?

Visiting Pro Pages...
Full bleed dutone orange and a grey / black. Bold quote, no speech marks, instead a series of *1 *2 *3

Yearbook designers page...
Not yet set in stone what the contents will be for this dps. We've talked of maybe including a backdrop and explanation to the concept behind the book, 3. So an idea I had would be to photograph the team 'working' on the project and some form of summary / quote to be used as the large bold text but also give room in the header space for more copy etc.

 Icons
Thought it might be a good idea to include something that is separate to the high level of type in the book. So instead of having 3 words for design disciplines, you choose from a list of icons. An example of what the icons could be and could look like...
