Botz Brigade

Again same routine with Mr. Epithiny, many designs were lost so no time to fanny about anymore with it, going to get this done in an hour or so...

Type choice, Want a simple bold serif typeface, other than that Im open to any... The reasons for this being what the client has provided in terms of what he likes and wants for his own branding;

Chose a new face I've not used before, Neuzeit Book Heavy. Played around with some of the letters that lent themselves to it, specifically the G and A.
Trying a few things, but found it quite hard to find a balance between boring and just a bit over the top pointless changes... Tried different approach (below) but straight away felt it was completely the wrong design direction, too childish / toy like.
Back to playing with the letters, simplifying certain parts of it and taking away or adding more to other areas, this time playing with the book heavy and just the book weights of the typeface. This making me able to essentially just have one long word, being able to separate the two words with the weights.

In the latter stages of these I felt I was getting somewhere, but still couldn't decide on what worked better whether the busier the better or the choice between a tight or loose kern.
One thing I felt vastly improved the design was the slight condensing of the 'O' and the slanted gap between the T and Z, the BOTZ is sweet, not sure on the BRIGADE though. So moved onto the second part of the client brief, the two b's this was going to be pretty simple really as it would just be an adaption of the full word logo...

Either way, I'm happy with,
Back to the full logo...
Decided to reverse it out, see if it made more of an impact, I believe it does!
Then started making slight changes here and there until I was happy with the design, making it busy enough to be interesting, or rather more than just two words in a normal type, but nothing too busy or silly.

Finished?
Slight loose kern on the letters as a whole, custom terminals on the G and Z/T. Less is more, and this is just enough.

Finished logo.
