Competition Briefs

Going through the online briefs at YCN, ISTD & D&AD I shortlisted these as ones I have some interest in, whether its the client or the deliverables or basis to the brief...

. D&AD IE9
Internet Explorer is back. Re-establish the brand for the re-imagined, redesigned and rebuilt IE9.
-I just want to change the logo somehow, which isn't what this brief is asking for, but a good starting point.

. D&AD Diesel
Choose a band or artist and create an illustrated response inspired by two of their tracks.
Interesting and open, my thinking would be to find a context to situate the designs in, other than just the competition. Single covers? (Itunes store) Website promo for release?

. D&AD Umbro
Launch 'A-Frame', Umbro's lifestyle footwear collection, to a young, football inspired, audience.
Not so keen on the subject matter but this is really relevant to my idea for a brief based on Kappa and their intrinsic value and negative connotations.

. D&AD Windows Phone
Create a typographical manifesto for Windows Phone 7.
Complicatedly written, the brief asks essentially for a promotion style campaign for the phone, but being type based. An interesting idea, I like the idea of trying to promote or advertise Windows as it always appears to be fighting a lost battle to Apple.

. YCN Tuborg
Develop ideas that will build the awareness and understanding of the Tuborg brand amongst our core audience.
A brand and TA that I can easily relate to. Touching on relevant subjects, music etc.

. YCN Boost
Make Boost the energy drink for a new consumer sector.
I think theres some exciting potential in this brief as it is, easily relatable again to music and even boarding culture.
