Duffields Visit

For some reason I didn't take any photos of the place, but was an interesting visit to the printers.
Arranged by myself as the printer Liaison & 'contactor', sick title.
The visit gave us a chance to go through the quote we were recently given and find out the specific costs, find out where the money was being spent. Ask questions, what could we do for £2500 / getting hold of a printed proof / issues concerning colour and getting an orange printed.
During the conversation, we  put all our issues forward to Clive, and got a vague run down of whats costing what. The extra spot colour being a big point of cost, aswell as the general quantity and amount of pages. The latter two being things we cant really change.
So the get the lower price, Clive advised only using standard 4 colour print process, no foil or varnish finish, and no gate fold.
Saying this hopefully if we pitch the idea forward well enough we can afford the gatefold, this being something me and the team really want.
It was hard to set anything in stone as Clive had organised a meeting with Lorenzo to come to more certain decisions on things, nonetheless it was good to have the chat there and then.

After the chat we got to look round the entire building and see all the fancy printers. This being my second visit to a printers, this time however I got a really good look around and told info on all sorts. Even saw the machine that our books will be printed on. All very good.
