Comparison

Comparison...

. Difference in style
Quite evident throughout the three magazines, Skateboarding mag seems to be very busy, a range of layouts, connotations of a sketch / scrap book. Lots of things overlapping and what not. Transcendent of Street art / urban life.
Surf Europe is very much focused on photography and subtle design. Also printed onto recycled paper, showing surfing to be a more ethical and environmentally friendly sport / culture.
Whitelines is a mixture of the two, however not environmentally friendly there is still a focus on the beauty of nature (snowy mountains).
This is a big point really, the general difference between the sports, skateboarding is very much about the talent and skaters and wheres good to skate. Wheras Surfing and Snowboarding have a lot of focus on the beauty of the sport, being set in such idealic scenarios. This being evident in the photos in the magazines, an amazing gigantic mountain surrounded by blue skys, beautiful ocean and the power of it, and some dirty street.

.Difference in advertising.
All magazines contain adverts for certain brands and products, some being found in more than one of them. Sidewalk however is the worst for selling stuff with a number of double page spreads for skate shops in UK, showcasing their latest stock and products.
