Product Photography

Second day that Mark Howe has come to help us with the photography.
Over two days we shot everyones work, was very stressful and confusing at times but with some organisation and documentation of the process from yours truly we managed to get everything done and to a decent standard.
We organised the work into different types of shots, using 3 main angles to work from, (Concept driven) 1. Product / package shot 2. poster shot and 3. birds eye, flat down shot. We also threw a macro shot in there but no need to count that.

One problem we did find was that the photos came out looking very grey, this was something we didn't want within our photography as we found it's very cliché and pretty much everyone in the studio photographs on grey, Done to death and boring. We did our best to rectify the images, relying mostly on Alex and his Photoshop expertise. Transformation shown here...

Much better, now to do this to 120 odd images.

Design development

Some final development with designing various types of spreads...

The real challenge is to make the book consistent yet different with each type of spread as to not make it boring and repetitive.

Just an example from the type of spreads, the universal header throughout, mixing up the little bits of detail, contact info etc.

PROMOTION CAMPAIGN

Keeping this a purely digital brief I have decided to base all promotion online.
So web banners, full home page advertisements, promotion on NikeSnowboarding.com are the kind of things I will be producing.
Having a specific audience makes this task somewhat easier as it defines the context for any promotion. So for my proposed web banners they will need to be situated on board related websites. As with all of my online promo.

Online promotion campaign will consist of...

3 x GIF web banners. Various sizes.

1 x design for full home page advert.

1 x homepage design for Nikesnowboarding.com

Social Media Campaign: Tweets and Facebook messages / status' spreading the word and hyping the release date of Nike IDB.

Photography session one

So had Mark Howe come in today to help us / do the photography session with the students and their props. The session went really well and the students helped to make it what it is with their props and generally getting behind the idea.

Example of how the photographs came out and how they will work together on the spread design.
