Initial designs and concepts

1. Slogans taking the piss out of the riders. Playing on the idea that 'boarders' are all cool and stuff...
To go on the board the statement is about, so the rider is mocking himself or to go on another board, so the rider is taking the piss out of other people?

Application example...

2.
Logo and branch development.
Taking inspiration from Nike SB and Nike snowboarding....
A means to creating board artwork, giving them each a specific logo.
(Nike snowboarding being an existing real logo)

3.
Identity & Snowboarding
A means of showing other parts of people's identities through their chosen sports teams.
Sports teams that nike sponsor that is.

NFL
PREMIER LEAGUE

4. Nike ID
Custom made snowboards, surfboards, wakeboards, ski's to fit in with Nike ID and the corresponding branches, Nike surf / Nike ski, etc. OR to fit in with Nike 6.0.
Developed further with having a choice of designs to customise, sizes and board types to choose from for each sport.

To Do

. Get in touch with global gathering, who prints their shit.

. finish flyer design to find a preferred direction, doing something completely new maybe? Style to carry forward through programme / lanyard etc

. Figure out contents for programme

. Document possible information to be put on programme

. What are the problems? how can these be solved?

. Summarise what was said from crit

. Write up proposed re-write of the brief, extending Brief Six into this. (Within this figuring out the exact problems etc)

Global Gathering Programme

Global Gathering programme and lanyard for 2010.
Well designed programme, printed onto thick plastic feeling stock, very very durable for all the shenanigans that took place that weekend.
Bright, attracting design with clean and clear information. Bit of a fiddle when going through it to read both pages and find someone specific, maybe some room for experimentation with the layout in those terms. But much better than Soundwave in terms of durability. This being something i feel the Soundwave programme needs as the amount of times I found myself in the sea along with the programme, card is not waterproof.
Excellent format change from lanyard to the programme, full print onto the lanyard, impressive.

Beautiful modelling.

Lanyard

Another example of a lanyard and programme holder. O2 academy for one of their club nights, Propaganda.

2010 Programme

Programme and lanyard for 2010's Soundwave festival.
Pink theme kept throughout, a big fan of this. Very summery / ideal for the location and time of year. Bright and happy, yet chilled.
Fan of the monotone imagery on the programme, keeps it simple yet interesting enough so it's not boring. Also not too busy so that you can't read the type.

Negatives.
Printed onto card it is not very durable or waterproof. something that I feel it needs, not only so it lasts the weekend but also so it can be kept as a souvenir and what not. The amount of people I saw go into the sea and quickly come back to return with wet money and a lanyard holder full of water along with the programme. This is a problem to solve.
Furthermore I think it could be made a little bit more interesting than a simple fold out format.
Could do with some more information, a resort map, including the festival. I encountered problems with cash machines, standard shops and the like. Where to get taxi's from. A lot of information like this was not put into the programme, instead there was always a massive que at the information tent, this could be prevented.

Problems to solve to...
durability
waterproof

22nd March Meeting

For this meeting we had agreed to come with two different proposed design routes for the book, showing design ideas we liked and things we thought should be included in it in terms of content.

Design Route One

Design Route Two
